More than 14,500 weapons have been dropped off in Government backed amnesty bins since July last year.

These include zombie-style knives, kitchen knives and machetes.

The Home Office has backed 37 surrender bins in London, including Croydon and Mitcham, Greater Manchester and the West Midlands.

It’s launched eight new ones in South and West Yorkshire.

The policing minister says every time a knife’s surrendered, communities around the country are made “that little bit safer”.
