The dedicated force, which patrols London’s eight royal parks, including Bushy and Richmond, will cease to exist from November.

The parks will “transition” and go under the control of the Met Police’s existing Basic Command Units.

Wards around St James’s and Hyde Parks will have greater resources allocated to them in the form of additional police officers.

This is in recognition of the already “increased public order demands” placed on those two parks in particular.

Met Police commander, Owain Richards, says he understands the news is disappointing.

The force is trying to address a £260m hole in its budget for the coming year.
