Minimum temperature records for May have provisionally been broken, for the second night in a row.

While most of us tried to sleep, it didn’t drop below 21.3 degrees Celsius at Kenley Airfield in Croydon, making it a ‘tropical night.’

Parts of the country could see highs of 35 today.

Lunchtime temperatures are currently hitting 32.2C at Heathrow.

The temperature at Kew Gardens, reached 34.8C on Monday, “exceeding the previous highest May temperature in the UK by a full 2 degrees Celsius”.

That beat the previous May record, set in 1922 and 1944, by 2C.
