London Fire Brigade is urging people to take extra care during the hot weather after one of its busiest weekends of the year.

Firefighters tackled a large flat fire in Mitcham, a grass fire in Croydon and rescued a person from the River Thames near Battersea Pier.

Crews responded to 1,345 incidents and handled more than 2,700 emergency calls between Friday and Sunday.

The Brigade is warning people to take care with barbecues, open spaces and waterways as temperatures remain high.
