Commenting on the expansion of ULEZ to Outer London today, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Hina Bokhari said:
“Delays by Labour’s Sadiq Khan in expanding the ULEZ scrappage scheme mean that many people who would have now been eligible for the scheme have already dug deep to scrape money together for a new vehicle.
“This includes many people who are struggling to make ends meet in the cost-of-living crisis.
“All this could have been avoided if Labour had accepted Liberal Democrat amendments to the Mayor’s budget in January and March of this year that would have opened the scrappage scheme to all Londoners from the very start.
“The Mayor should now correct his mistake and allow those who replaced their vehicles between January and the expansion of the scrappage scheme to apply for funding retrospectively.”
