Lambeth Council wants to take back homes that were previously rented in the private sector for homeless families.

The authority is proposing repurposing163 homes on six council estates for use as emergency accommodation.

So far, over 60 properties have been returned to the council and are being prepared for letting.

There are 40,000 people on the borough’s housing waiting list, and 4,700 homeless families living in temporary accommodation.
