Kingston Council is on track to spend £1.7 million helping residents who are struggling to afford essentials such as food, heating and fuel.

The money has been allocated by the Government as part of its Household Support Fund.

However, Kingston Council wants the monetary grant extended for another year.

Council leader, Andreas Kirsch, has written to the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to try and have his request affirmed.
