Kingston and Surbiton’s Labour group has announced its candidate for the South West London Assembly seat.

Marcela Benedetti is described as “deeply connected” to the community.

The London Assembly is a 25-member elected body that scrutinises the activities of the Mayor of London.

It has the power, with a two-thirds supermajority, to amend the Mayor’s annual budget.
