The council says rogue ice cream vans, hot dog carts and other traders have so far been moved on from routes including King’s Road.
Officers can issue £150 fines, with 12 handed out in one week around Basil Street and Exhibition Road.
The council says illegal trading causes noise, pollution, litter and disruption for residents, businesses and visitors.
