Drivers who are spotted idling their engines in Richmond are going to be asked to turn them off.

Volunteers are wanted across Richmond to help support the council’s anti-idling campaign.

The aim is to reduce air pollution caused by motorists leaving their engines running when they are stopped in traffic or at level crossings.

The Air Quality team is looking for residents to volunteer at events throughout the year including one on March the 24th.

Volunteers will approach stationary vehicles in pairs and politely asking drivers to switch their engines off.

For more details and to volunteer for the March the 24th event and other events planned, email gia.pendred@merton.gov.uk by Tuesday 18 March.
