Now, Wandsworth is vowing to continue her reading legacy.
The Council says 8,000 families have now signed up to the borough’s Imagination Library since it launched there last Autumn.
The worldwide programme that gifts books to children was created in America in 1995 by the legendary singer who died last month.
She was first inspired to gift books by her father, who couldn’t read or write.
The project is supported by funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and delivered by The Dollywood Foundation.
