Year 11 pupil from Norbury High School for Girls Jemima-Helen Tshondo was voted in by existing members to lead.
She will play a crucial role in advocating for young people and will act as a liaison between the assembly and the council.
The youth assembly was created to provide a platform for young residents, to give them a voice and help develop leadership skills.
