More than 180 families in temporary accommodation received £150 supermarket vouchers for each eligible child starting Year 7.
Extra funding also helped more children access the council’s Summer of Fun programme, offering sports, arts and crafts.
Mayor Jason Perry says the support aims to ease financial pressure on families and give children more opportunities.
