Croydon Council has been handed almost £250,000 to digitise its extensive archives for future generations.

The money is coming from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Croydon’s Archives currently contain over 1,000 collections dating as far back as 1392.

They also hold a wide range of historical material including books, photographs, maps and newspapers.
