An officer has been dismissed from the Met after sexually assaulting a woman at a pub.

PC Jason Capery was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at a misconduct hearing.

The panel heard that PC Capery, of the Central West Basic Command Unit which covers Hounslow, Ealing and Hillingdon, acted inappropriately towards a woman who was known to him while off duty at a pub in Marylebone.

Capery pleaded guilty to sexual assault by touching at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order and was made to pay court fees of £199.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who leads policing in central west London, said:

“The actions of PC Capery fell well below the standards expected for a serving police officer.

“Women deserve to feel safe in London. It is imperative that our officers maintain high standards at all times and there is no place for inappropriate behaviour within the Met.

“We are working hard to make sure anyone who does not reach these standards is removed from the force.”
