It’s after a recent Kingston Council report once again proposed changes to the layout which is something residents have previously voiced concern over.

In 2016, the then-Conservative Council introduced an identical proposal to replace the roundabout with a North Cheam style crossroads.

This was met with a protest of over 100 people who say the design would lead to worse traffic congestion.

They want money to be spent on turning the roundabout into a welcoming centrepiece as it once was in the 1890s, albeit in a slightly different location.

The now Lib Dem run council assured the public at the meeting that there would be full public consultation and engagement as the options get developed.
