Surrey County Council and Mole Valley District Council say the proposal for Church Street is necessary to stop slippery pavements.

The route was revamped in 2017 with new paving, drainage and street furniture.

The councils say the only way to ensure there is no slippery residue from the Lime trees is to replace them completely.

If the proposals are approved, work will start in Spring in two phases.

Anyone who has a view on the proposal to fell and replace the trees can leave their comments on Surrey County Council’s website now.
