Med Safety Week, starting on Monday, will encourage people to check expiry dates and order repeat prescriptions early.
NHS Surrey and Sussex says people should also speak to a pharmacist if they have concerns about their medication.
People are also being urged to report suspected side effects to help keep medicines safe for everyone.
