Police were called to an address in Berkeley Avenue in the early hours of this morning following reports of a fire.
The fire brigade and ambulance service were called to the scene with nine people were taken to hospital as a result of their injuries.
A 48-year-old woman died in hospital and another 40-year-old woman remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
The remaining seven people, six men and one woman have since been discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries.
