A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with assaulting a woman who was wrongly arrested on suspicion of not paying her bus fare in Croydon.

She was left with bruising to her arm after the incident last July.

An investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct ended in December.

49-year-old PC Perry Lathwood is due before Westminster Magistrates’ Court next month.
