The victim pulled onto the hard shoulder after a verbal altercation with another driver who the threatened them with a bladed weapon.
The altercation continued up until the Painshill/Cobham slip road, at which point the vehicles separated.
A man in his 30s was arrested and released on bail while enquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101.
