A man has been sentenced to 22 weeks in prison following a spate of shoplifting offences between December 2024 and January 2025.
30 year old Levi Burton was caught shoplifting from Holland and Barrett and Sainsbury’s in Leatherhead by the on-duty security guard at The Swan Centre.
The security guard confronted Burton, asking for proof of payment to which Burton replied that he didn’t get a receipt.
The security guard proceeded to follow Burton, who became aggressive, throwing a glass jar at him.
Burton also threatened him before running off.
Burton also pleaded guilty to stealing Ted Baker make-up bags totalling £330 from Boots in Reigate on the same day.
He pleaded guilty to a further incident on the 3rd of January where he stole fresh meat products from Marks and Spencer in Ashtead.
He was arrested for four counts of shoplifting and one count of ABH.
Burton pleaded guilty to all the shoplifting offences but denied that he had assaulted the security guard.
He was sentenced to eight weeks’ in prison and ordered to pay fines totalling £354.34 for the four thefts when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court.
His Suspended Sentence Order from a previous shoplifting conviction was also activated, sentencing him to a total of 22 weeks in custody.
