61-year-old Christopher Coulthard from Bedford stole money from safes and donation tins.
He was sentenced to three years and four months for five burglaries, one theft and one count of possession of criminal property.
He was also handed a life-time Criminal Behaviour Order preventing him from entering any religious establishment in England and Wales.
