The historic Pagoda Tree sits on Canons House and Gardens, where 93 new builds are planned.
In a report, the Royal Horticultural Society says the build would cause ‘significant, unavoidable damage’ to the 70-year-old tree.
Merton Council cannot publicly comment at this stage of the live planning application.
