A faulty fridge has been reported as the possible cause of the fire at Kingston’s Ancient Marketplace, pending further checks.

The London Fire Brigade says the blaze was accidental, with police ruling out suspicious circumstances.

Several market stalls were destroyed and nearby shops damaged, with no injuries reported.

Kingston Council is making the damaged buildings safe and working to support affected traders.
