A cinema in Sutton is one of eight that has escaped closure after Empire Cinema chain entered administration.

Six cinemas have closed with immediate effect across the UK leading to a loss of 150 jobs.

Administrators from accounting firm BDO are seeking a buyer for the remaining sites including the Empire Sutton.

They are blaming the closures on the COVID -19 pandemic, inflation and cost-of-living crisis.
