Sarah Olney launched it after finding out one of her constituents had been quoted more than £7,000 for a transcript of her rapist’s trial.
The Speaker of the House of Commons has now called on the Solicitor General to make it possible for MPs to access transcripts.
Ms Olney says this could set a precedent for transcripts to be provided either at a discounted rate or free of charge for those who need them.
