Andrea Bernard died of injuries sustained after being put into a scalding bath at a property in Thornton Heath.
She died after being transferred to a specialist burns unit from Croydon Hospital.
At the short hearing, the 66-year-old spoke only to confirm her name, age and address and was freed on bail under strict conditions.
She is set to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on March the 19th.
