Lib Dem London Spokesperson, Luke Taylor says it’s because the Government has decided to keep income tax band thresholds frozen.
He says Londoners, including teachers and police officers, will be dragged into paying the 40p higher rate of income tax as a result.
The figures were commissioned from the House of Commons Library by the Lib Dems.
The Lib Dems say they would raise the personal allowance to £15,000 and the 40p threshold to £56,000 over five years.
The party says it would be funded by the proceeds of joining the EU single market.
The Chancellor’s on his way to the House of Commons to deliver his first Budget.
John Healey’s just left Number 11 Downing Street, with the red box.
He’s already announced scrapping standing charges on gas bills, promising “breathing space” for people.
He’s also expected to announce a minimum wage rise.
