Surrey Police are reminding people how to keep their homes safe as the evenings get darker.

Residents are being urged to lock all doors and windows, set their alarms and never leave spare keys outside.

Leaving lights on timers, keeping valuables out of sight and having a radio on can help make it look like someone is home.

People are also being told to lock sheds, garages and side gates, and double lock their doors when going out.
