Two men convicted of stealing mailbags in Clapham in 1976 have had their convictions quashed.

21 year old Christopher Poulter and 18 year old Kevin Biggs were found guilty of taking 13 mailbags from a railway wagon.

British Transport Police officer Det Sgt Derek Ridgewell was one of three officers who said they saw the pair take the bags and drive off.

But it was later found that he had framed young black men for crimes he had committed himself.
