Richmond Council’s criticised the Mayor of London’s new Tourist Tax, arguing that revenue it generates should stay in the borough.

Gareth Roberts states that while a levy has merit, it leaves Richmond to absorb the costs of hosting four point five million visitors a year.

Mayor, Sir Sadiq Khan’s welcomed the new powers.

He insists a modest cap of up to 5% will help reinvest in vital services across the wider capital.
