Elmbridge Borough Council says it has started work on a new Local Plan.

It’s after government regulations stated the authority needs to begin the process by December the 31st.

Elmbridge says the fact that the authority won’t exist next year following Devolution doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to comply.

Any information gathered as part of the Local Plan process will be used by the new East Surrey Unitary Authority.

Local Plans set out how a borough will deal with housebuilding projects over a set number of years.
