Officers were called to reports of a multi vehicle collision on the anticlockwise stretch just before 11.50 on Monday night.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are underway to understand the circumstances leading up to the collision which closed the motorway for over 10 hours.
