A petition against Thames Water’s plans for an abstraction site at Teddington has only reached 43,000 of the required 100,000 signatures.

The project aims to take water from the river during dry periods and replace it with treated recycled water from Mogden Sewage Works.

Thames Water says the project at Teddington Weir is necessary part of its long-term plan to secure water supplies for London past 2030.

Petition creator and resident, Ian McNuff, says there are other options that should be considered.
