Lidl could be affected by new rules being considered by the UK competition watchdog.

The Competition and Markets Authority wants Aldi and Lidl, which has its UK HQ in Tolworth, to face the same land agreement restrictions as the UK’s biggest supermarket chains.

The plans aim to stop the German discount retailers from blocking rivals from opening nearby.

The rules currently only apply to seven major supermarket groups.
