Four fires were deliberately started across Spelthorne over the weekend, prompting a warning from police.

Officers say dry conditions mean fires can spread quickly, causing damage, risking lives and leading to criminal charges.

A wildfire also spread across 1.5 hectares of land in Shepperton on Saturday.

Residents are being urged to keep an eye on children, follow barbecue rules and take extra care outdoors.

The warning comes as dry weather increases the risk of fires across the borough.
