Children in Croydon are starting school more prepared according to new research from the council.

The number reaching the expected standard of development by the end of reception year, or age 4 to 5, has risen to 74.1%.

The national average for Good development, which tracks a child’s expected communication and physical goals, is 68.3%.

Croydon Council says support from schools, nurseries and families has helped drive the improvement.
