The opening of Golborne Canalside Health Centre follows years of work between the Council, NHS partners and the community to create a “modern healthcare facility that not only expands access to medical services but also promotes wellbeing and prevention.”
The new centre is being relocated from its current Golborne Road location to Kensal Road and forms part of the new Kelso Cochrane House development.
The council says every aspect of the building has been co-designed by patients, “creating a calm and welcoming environment that supports wellbeing from the moment patients arrive.”
Patient artwork by artist Cordelia Cembrowicz, is displayed throughout the centre, while a green moss wall has been incorporated into the design to enhance biodiversity and add to the tranquil atmosphere of the building.
The centre includes a dedicated community space, the Village Square, complete with its own kitchenette that will host exercise classes, coffee mornings and events to support residents’ health and wellbeing.
Dr Yasmin Razak, Principal GP at Golborne Canalside, said: “This is a fantastic new centre for our local community and one that has exceeded our expectations. The building is beautifully designed, creating a welcoming and peaceful environment for patients while providing modern facilities that allow us to expand the services we offer.
“We have increased our number of GPs to improve access to same day appointments and created space for a wider range of healthcare professionals, enabling us to care for more patients while maintaining the personalised approach that is so important to our practice.
“The opening of this centre is just the beginning. We will continue to develop new services and opportunities for residents in the years ahead. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved and look forward to welcoming both existing and new patients through our doors.”
