Airbnb will report customers who fraudulently rent out social housing to the government under a new agreement.

The platform will allow councils to check social housing records against its listings to identify properties being exploited by fraudsters.

Kensington and Chelsea Council is one of the authorities entering into the partnership.

It’s thought 5,800 homes could be illegally sublet on short-term rental platforms.
