Two men have been jailed after a series of burglaries targeting elderly and vulnerable people across Surrey, including Chertsey.

The uncle and nephew, John Cawley and Billy O’Donoghue, broke into 11 homes and care homes.

They stole cash, jewellery and other sentimental items.

In Chertsey, they entered while a resident slept and stole money and WWI medals before being caught on CCTV.

They were arrested in 2025 and jailed for a total of 16 years after admitting conspiracy to burgle.
