Kingston Council has secured £19,000 to improve wildlife on Steven’s Ait, a small island near Canbury Gardens.

Kingston Council has secured £19,000 to improve wildlife on Steven’s Ait, a small island near Canbury Gardens.

Working with The Small Boat Club, the project will create new habitats for birds, swans, bees and butterflies.

Improvements include nesting areas for sand martins, a floating swan nest, pollinator-friendly planting and riverbank habitat structures.

The aim is to boost biodiversity and make it a better home for wildlife, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
