A club in a part of Richmond is trying to make what is often called an “elitist sport” more accessible to youngsters.

ZFW Richmond Fencing Club says it is something many children from working-class backgrounds don’t have access to.

Its mission is ‘fence, fun and friendship’, while aiming to teach children about the sport which dates back to the 17th century.

Based at Buckingham Primary School in Hampton, sessions will be taking place on Saturday mornings for a small weekly fee.
