Croydon Council officers found rat and pigeon droppings near food, damaged produce and poor pest control at the warehouse.

The company, K Veg Wholesale, ignored warnings and continued to supply shops and businesses across the UK.

The company director, Mr Vettivelu Thiraviyathasan, pleaded guilty on behalf of the business and was ordered to pay a fine of £100,000 for the offences, a victim surcharge of £2,000 and the Council’s full costs of £5,097.37 were awarded. A total penalty of £107,097.37.
