Go Epsom, the Business Improvement District, says retail and hospitality workers have been harassed and racially abused.

They claim shoppers have also stayed away while floral displays have been vandalised.

Go Epsom also says one of the town’s most iconic heritage buildings has suffered criminal damage amounting to £15,000.

Two protests have taken place in the town after a woman reported she had been raped outside the Methodist Church on April the 11th.

It’s after false rumours were spread online about the alleged suspects.

Surrey Police were forced to issue a statement saying immigrants and asylum seekers were not under investigation.

Officers closed the case after it was revealed the woman had suffered a head injury on the night of the reported incident.
