Firefighters are reminding Londoners about the importance of putting cigarettes out safely following two fires within an hour of each other.

A blaze at a property in Morden was followed yesterday by a flat fire in Barking.

Both fires are believed to have been accidental and were caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.

Half of the ground floor and a small part of the guttering and sockets at the house in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Morden were damaged.
