One of the world’s oldest rugby clubs in Thornton Heath has launched an emergency campaign to try and stave off closure.

Streatham and Croydon RFC was founded in 1871 and provides free holiday camps for hundreds of children.

It says the cost of maintaining its ground in Frant Road is thousands of pounds a year with a recent water bill costing £2,000.

Its GoFund me support page has so far raised over £22,000 of its £40,000 target

Streatham and Croydon RFC was the first club Red Rose Sadia Kabeya played for.
