Official statistics showed 432 across the UK in 2025, five times higher than the 84 in 2001.
E-scooter fires also increased by 20%.
The figure rose to 147 last year from 123 in 2024.
Many were linked to lithium batteries which burst into flames while charging.
Surrey Fire and Rescue says since the start of 2023, they’ve attended over thirty fires caused by lithium batteries.
Owners of E-bikes and E-scooters are being warned against buying bargain batteries online after the record number of fires.
