The Royal Hospital Chelsea is probably best known as the home for retired soldiers, The Chelsea Pensioners.

But during the Second World War it found itself on the front line when it suffered direct hits from enemy fire.

Now, a new book is delving into the effect the war had on the SW London landmark.

Martin Cawthorne’s, The Royal Hospital Chelsea at War, draws on extensive research, archive material and Oxford University studies.

He’ll host a talk about the book at the Hospital on June the 8th.
