The plan is to open up this stretch of the River Thames to residents and visitors for the first time in many years.
The council has this week agreed to demolish the existing jetty and replace it with a new structure of the same size.
Councillors say remodelling the existing jetty is not possible because it’s not accessible and is no longer safe for public use.
